Making hay while the sun shines

After a wet and dreary start to summer, our guests at Woodside Cottages are now experiencing record temperatures during the day and pleasantly warm evenings to sit and enjoy a glass (or two) of wine on the decking, overlooking the four-acre paddock. That’s the British weather for you!

Nick and I spent last weekend making hay while the sun shines – literally. Over 24 hours we baled, carried and stacked almost 500 bales of hay. No mean feat for just the two of us. Sunday evening, we relaxed (exhausted) on our own decking and raised a celebratory glass of cold beer knowing that we now have hay to feed the horses over winter.
